Bride and groom on the shore at Shuswap Lake

Although I’m a Calgary based wedding photographer, I’m originally from Kamloops so I love getting the opportunity to travel back and shoot BC weddings. I have many memories at the Shuswap growing up so I was especially excited to photograph Laurie and Aaron’s day at Rustic Wedding Venue in Sorrento, BC. I have been lucky to shoot many weddings in so many incredible venues but this is one of my favourites. It’s family owned and they are so warm and welcoming every time I visit. The flowers and decor are done on site and it is beyond stunning every time. The way they brought Laurie and Aaron’s boho, with a touch of Harry Potter vision to life was so beautiful. Complete with a sorting hat to choose the tables for dinner and their cat Mr. Norris standing in as ring bearer. It was the perfect warm August night that the Shuswap is known for and we took full advantage of the beautiful property and went for a stroll just as the sun was setting.

I leave every one of my weddings on a bit of a love high but on the car ride home after this day I was feeling so incredibly grateful to have been a part of it and honoured that Laurie and Aaron chose me to be their photographer. You could really feel the love and emotions that surrounded them that day and it was clear from meeting all of their friends and family how important they are to everyone in their lives. Now I’m obsessed with them also.
