Fall Wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge
Victoria and Christian are from Florida and share a passion for travel. They knew they wanted to have a destination wedding and create a unique experience for their friends and family and decided that Emerald Lake Lodge in the Rocky Mountains was the perfect backdrop for their day.
A Dream Wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge
Nestled in the heart of Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake Lodge offers one of the most romantic and stunning locations for a wedding in the Rocky Mountains. Surrounded by towering mountains, lush forests, and the pristine, turquoise waters of Emerald Lake, it's a place where love and nature blend effortlessly. As a photographer at Emerald Lake Lodge, I have had the privilege of capturing many beautiful moments here, but every wedding is uniquely special in its own way. Victoria and Christian’s wedding was one filled with personalized touches that wowed their guests with the grandeur of this breathtaking venue.
The Perfect Setting
Emerald Lake Lodge is a hidden gem. The lodge itself, with its rustic charm and warm wood interiors, exudes coziness, while the surrounding scenery provides an endless array of stunning backdrops for not only wedding photos but many guest selfies. Victoria and Christian’s intimate ceremony by the lake and cozy celebration inside the lodge let the natural beauty of this location shine.
They chose to have a private first look on their balcony overlooking the lake and share their vows on the patio by the lake's edge, with a backdrop of towering mountains and the serene water that gives the lake its famous emerald hue. I was excited to capture every emotional moment, from the first look to the exchange of vows, all against the majestic landscape.
Unique Touches
While the stunning setting alone would have made for a beautiful wedding, the couple also incorporated some truly special details that made the day even more meaningful.
1. Custom Floral Arrangements: The couple worked with Hue Florals, a talented local florist to create floral arrangements that reflected their personalities. From wildflower bouquets to lush centrepieces, the florals were a perfect reflection of the wild beauty of the Canadian Rockies. They exchanged their vows under a gorgeous floral arch which framed the mountains in the background.
3. Lakeside Cocktail Hour and First Dance : In order to soak in as much as the beautiful fall weather as possible Victoria and Christian opted to have their cocktail hour on the lakeside patio. Their guests enjoyed the amazing food prepared by the chefs at Emerald Lake Lodge and many delicious cocktails. With the shots flowing from the custom made shotski, a Canadian tradition, a hilarious and competitive game of tug o war between the two families took place. Before heading into the lodge for dinner they had their first dances with the mountains in the background.
4. Stunning Reception Decor: When their guests headed inside to cozy up by the fire they were greeted by absolutely amazing decor, complete with table numbers named after all of their favourite date spots in Florida. The cream, brown and rust colour of the florals perfectly complimented the rustic wood interior of the lodge. The planning team Melissa Allison Events did a perfect job of making sure the day flowed smoothly.
