After photographing their engagement session in Calgary, I knew that Allison & Alex’s wedding at Silvertip Resort in Canmore was going to be cool and different. Their style is retro inspired with a modern twist and their wedding was a perfect reflection of that. I love the getting ready part of the day because I get to document all of the nervous excitement that everyone is feeling but also because I get to see what everyone is wearing! Alex wore a cumber bun which I don’t think I’ve ever seen a groom wear before and it was a really cool classic twist. When I showed up to Allison’s beautiful family home in Canmore to capture her getting ready I was in awe of how gorgeous and different her dress and details were.

Flow of the Day

The wedding ceremony and reception were at the gorgeous Silvertip Resort in Canmore. I love photographing weddings at Silvertip because of the amazing mountain views. It was a drizzly day in Canmore but it actually added to the romantic vibe of the day and highlighted the vibrant florals by Alpine Blooms which were absolutely stunning. I loved Allison and Alex’s day because they had a super relaxed timeline which allowed us to venture out to a couple different locations for portraits. Once we got back to Silvertip for cocktail hour the drinks were flowing, everyone was relaxed and those amazing candid moments were unfolding naturally. I love when couples do things their own way and are able to be present and have fun with each other and their guests. Dinner was amazing, as always at Silvertip and the speeches were super emotional, which is another part of the day that I love to document. Alex had the sweetest dance with his mom and I was holding back tears behind my camera. Before I packed up for the day I was able to capture a few dance party shots. It was the perfect wedding day in Canmore and I’m so happy that Allison and Alex chose me to document it for them!

Silvertip Resort

I’ve shot many weddings at Silvertip Resort and its one of my favorite wedding venues in Canmore. I love that Silvertip has a few different options of ceremony location. Allison and Alex’s ceremony was held at the gazebo which has an epic mountain view and is available for summer weddings. The other location that I love is the Three Sisters Patio which is available for fall winter and spring weddings. Their cocktail hour was held on the patio which is perfect for drinks and mingling and is especially beautiful in the evening as sun sets over the mountains. Allison and Alex’s reception was held in The Pavillion which has a gorgeous stone fireplace and beautiful doors that open to the patio. Probably my favorite part of working with the team at Silvertip is the amazing food. I’m always so excited for my wedding meal. I highly reccomend Silvertip if you’re looking for a Canmore venue that can host up to 180 people with beautiful mountain views and delicious food.
